Can I Still Breastfeed After Breast Augmentation?

1

Though it is a common concern among our breast augmentation patients, breast implants should not impact your ability to breastfeed. With careful implant placement and precise incision locations, your natural breast tissue and milk production glands should not be affected during the procedure, allowing you to breastfeed as normal afterward. However, Dr. Eric Okamoto always makes sure his patients understand that only a certain percentage of all women are able to breastfeed naturally, regardless of breast surgery. As long as you are able to breastfeed before your surgery, it is highly unlikely that breast augmentation will affect your ability to post-operatively breastfeed.

Dr. Okamoto also explains to his breast augmentation patients that future pregnancies and breastfeeding may alter the initial results of the surgery. If these changes do occur and you are dissatisfied, breast revision surgery can be performed to restore the appearance of the breasts.
