What is the difference between BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®?
All in all, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® do not have many significant differences. Both injectables are composed of a highly diluted form of botulinum toxin type A, which works to temporarily prevent muscles in specific areas from contracting. It is this facial muscle contracture that causes wrinkles to develop. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are designed to target the muscles in areas exhibiting wrinkles and creases and temporarily stop them from contracting, thereby giving the area a smoother and more youthful appearance. While Dr. Okamoto does not offer BOTOX® Cosmetic at his practice, Dysport® has proven to be an extremely effective alternative for many patients and offers many of the same benefits.
What are the areas of the face most commonly treated by Dysport®?
Some of the most common areas of the face for which these treatments are performed include the corners of the mouth, around the eyes, above the lips, regions of the forehead, and between the brows.
Do the injections hurt?
While many people feel anxious about needles, an experienced injector should be familiar with an array of techniques that can minimize discomfort during treatment. Here at the practice of Dr. Eric Okamoto, we can apply a local anesthetic to the target areas to reduce pain during the injections and help you enjoy a more pleasant treatment.
